Don't have time to read? Greetings Tech Nomads, Today we are looking at: Martin.ai – The Voice That Calls for You TL;DR: Martin.ai is a new voice assistant that can actually pick up the phone and call people for you, but it still talks like it’s stuck in buffering mode. Martin.ai is trying to be your personal voice butler. You tell it to make a call, check your calendar, or add an appointment, and it actually does it. Real calls, real humans on the other end. No fake “I’ll remind you later” vibes — it dials, talks, and reports back. That’s a big jump from most assistants that only talk *to* you, not *for* you. The catch? It’s slow on the draw. The conversation flow has long, awkward pauses — we’re talking several seconds at times. It’s thinking, making sure it does the right thing, which is great. But it feels like talking to someone with a flaky internet connection. Smoothness is missing. That human-like back-and-forth rhythm just isn’t there yet. Another limit right now: it doesn’t handle the full “do everything for me” routine yet. Booking flights, placing online orders, or filling out forms — still out of reach. Even with other AIs learning how to open browser windows and click buttons, Martin.ai keeps it simple. Basic voice tasks only, at least for now. Where it shines is its focus. People testing it say it saves real time on small, boring tasks — dentist appointments, return calls, meeting follow-ups. You give it orders, walk away, and it tells you what happened. It’s like having an intern who actually reports back without “forgetting.” So what’s my move? I’ll keep using Martin.ai to see if it smooths out those pauses. But I’m also building my own mashup assistant using tools like Zapier, ChatGPT, and some automation scripts. No reason to wait — sometimes progress is faster when you build the shortcuts yourself. We’re getting closer to true digital help, one hesitant “umm…” at a time. Be seeing you… |
