Some of it is clever, lots of it is average, and a fair bit is… well, slop. Think of it as the leftovers of the digital age, piled high and served hot.

To see how it works, I ran a little experiment. I built a prompt to create 10-second videos (0:10 runtime) called “How to Be a Macher”—a wink at the old-school word for a big shot. The AI searches for inspiration from classic comedians, builds a new joke in their spirit, then creates a matching video. I set it up with Make.com to post three times a day (3× daily) on YouTube Shorts—completely hands-free.

After a few days, the channel had over 30,000 views (30K) and a handful of subscribers (10+). That’s not retirement money yet, but once it hits 1,000 subs, YouTube starts paying out. The key detail? I didn’t have to lift a finger to get those views. The content conveyor belt did all the heavy lifting.

There’s a catch, of course. With thousands of these AI-generated clips uploaded daily (tens of thousands, even), platforms like YouTube could face a storage crunch big enough to make a hard drive sweat. Still, the upside is real: you can build a brand that grows while you sleep—literally.

Here’s why it matters. Whether you love or loathe the idea, AI slop works. Algorithms reward consistency, not craft. If your AI can pump out posts or podcasts every day, you’ll rise in the ranks faster than someone polishing a single “perfect” piece. You may not admire the taste, but you can’t argue with the recipe.
